For students, we also offer associate status: for a reduced fee, those currently taking or about to undertake a UK-based course in which the focus of study is in the addiction field, or to overseas students enrolled on an addiction course at a university which subscribes to one or both of the Society's journals, and resulting in a recognised qualification or credits are eligible for most of the benefits of membership: online access to both our journals; eligibility for consideration under our funding schemes; eligibility to apply for Supported Helper places at our Annual Conference.

Your membership / associateship is handled by the Executive Office in Leeds. The SSA holds all personal and professional information provided by you for the benefit and sole use of the SSA. This information is kept on a secure database that cannot be accessed by any other party and will not be passed on to any other party except for the purpose of mailing your journal copies to you. If you have requested a paper copy of our journal, it will be posted to you* directly by the publisher. Mailing information is not held by the publisher and remains the property of the SSA.

We are legally obliged to maintain accurate personal records for our members, and it is your responsibility to keep the details we hold for you up-to-date. It is also a condition of membership that we record each member's home address.

*Please note, copies of the Society's journal will only be sent to home addresses. As Society membership includes a free personal subscription to Addiction – representing a very significant saving on the standard price, this has to be on equivalent terms to a standard personal subscription.
